July 20th 1977 and the sex Pistols van rolls up outside a small, unassuming, faceless club probably somewhere in Sweden. The resulting tape of the show is ok, its listenable a "five" at best and is usually noteable for its frontman apearing to be the bastard spawn of a Micky Mouse, Pinky and perky threesome.

Were it not for the recent and rather quite excellent Mathiesen/Nordskog offering "exiled to Oslo" this is how a lot of us (including me) woulf probably sum up this date on the tour.

Thankully the book exists, Trygv's generous, I'm a blagger and Ingar Kjostolfsen (The Taper) is a 'mate of a mate' of Trygve (in the best bootleg tradition)

There's nothing I can tell you about this show that Trygve and Harry haven't already covered, suffice to say that with Sparks at the controls and a digital copy of the taper's cassette in his possession courtesy of Mr. Mathlesen, This is Pingvin at its sonic best and a brief but blistering "Norway v Engalnd" clash that I think (although ending in a draw) is one hell of a game.

Rotton Vicious, Cook, Jones, Norsmen Beer....what more could you want?

"Hello...Hello...how are you doin'?"

After playing the same venue the night before, but to an audence consisting entirely of 23 year olds and above, the Pistols treat those 15 and overs thankfully now allowed to witness the lads, to a 'lightning storm of a set' Trondheim is more often than not hailed as the 'performance of the tour' but thats now being questioned with this, frankly stunning, upgrade by Sparks, The Satellite Kid.

So its neck and neck and a sprint for the tape, as stockholm, remastered and more complete than ever before, emerges from murky 'also ran' mediocrity to take its rightful place on the podium. Whether that represents a gold or silver only you can decide, Sid plays (yes...I said plays') bass, Paul beats the hell out of his kit, Steve leaps and poses like the guitar hero he is and Rotton is mesmerising.

While still suffering from the two cuts in the tape, one between 'EMI' and 'Sub-Mission' and one during 'No Feelings'(a track that many will not have heard from this show before) the savage version of 'Seventeen' more than compensates, with Rotton, the manic prophet of doom declaring musical armageddon

What a great sounding gig. Sex Pistols playing to a captive audience at her majesty,s pleasure. John Rotton doing his very best to wind up the audence with his sreet smart razor sharp sarcasm.

The band are on fire proving once again and for all what an incredible live unit they truly are dispelling all those stupid "They can't play rumors".

The gig was recorded through the mixing desk by Dave Goodman and a brilliant job he did as well. Sadley the first track the band played was not recorded but luckily the band played "Anarchy in the UK" again as an encore. This set has been released a couple of times, once with some horrible overdubes and then again with the track listing all jumbled up. this is not the definitive version but its a good as it gets.

Johns inbetween song banter had also sadly been tapmpered with and rearranged... but not anymore.

So what you have is the correct running order and Johns banter put back to its rightful place.

As John says at one point "dancing is permitted" so all it leaves me to say is crank up the volume and listen to the greatest band ever.

This is perhaps the famous (or infamous) live sex Pistols recording of them all released as the "Indecent Exposure" bootleg and countless subsequent releases over the years.

Two of the most complete releases "Truly Indecent Exposure" and the "76 Club" just miss a segment or two of between-track banter on earlier less complete versions.

However thanks to the patience of Tripmeup who sat through endless editions of this gig and took notes on the best sounding and most complete versions you have something approaching the full set at last.

Keep a well trained ear out for some great crowd banter including "The lead singers a spastic", "Fuck of you morons", and a crowd favorite at the early shows "Eddie and the Hot Rods".

"if you want more you can ask" John informs the punters after "Problems".

....Please sir can we have some more?

This CD comes with very high quality artwork. (Thanks Andy & Sparks).
