Leeds, UK, Queens Hall "Futurama '79" - 8.9.1979.  (Thanks Mick & Pete)

This gig was released as a bootleg LP called Sci-Fi, which is where my copy originates from. I'm unsure whether the master recording has ever become available, although it isn't really important as the quality of the bootleg LP is quite acceptable.

It's a slightly distant recording and if truth be known quite a shambolic one too. All the percussive chaos of the Manchester show from three months previously is just as evident, leading one to question whether PiL actually done any rehearsing in the meantime (save for recording Metal Box!)

This was Dudanski's last appearance behind the drums and would be PiL's last gig until January 1980, when the genius of Martin Atkins would grace the band with his presence.

Most songs just fall apart at the end to a scattered applause which shows just how mutual the despise was between the band and the crowd. Apparently Lydon stood with his back to the punters for the majority of the show. (Keith also gets hit on the napper with a can before Public image!)

Lydon indeed claims that this gig is simply another rehearsal; an excuse that doesn't really wash this time since they'd had almost three months since the last gig to pull things together a bit. If anything this is even more of a shambles than the Manchester gig!

Death Disco is false started.

There is a fade out / in between Low Life and Public image.

There is a cut between Death Disco and Another.

There is a final fade out after No birds do sing...
