Preston, UK, Guild Hall - 15.5.1986.  (Thanks Mick)

Probably the worst quality PiL live recording I have ever heard.

The show starts with the crowd chanting; "Johnny is a wanker!" etc until the band start with Kashmir. Lydon has trouble with spitting from the moment he walks on stage and throughout the gig. The show gets stopped during Bags because of the spitting.

The quality makes a dramatic improvement at the begining of Round, as though the bootlegger took his tape-recorder out of his pocket. He must also have used a 60 minute tape to record this show, as no encores seem to have been recorded. The performance (or at least what can be heard of it) seems to be quite standard. A very tense, bad tempered gig - equally as much as the Brixton show, if not more so!

It would probably only be a completist who would bother tracking this one down. It's pretty much a rarity anyway though.

Despite the quality, as a PiL connoissèur I find this one fascinating to listen to, because it is such a hot-tempered affair.

There is a cut after Banging the Door, most likely where the tape was flipped.

Note; In September 2010, I made a high-end digital transfer of this recording and did a bit of tweaking, removing a lot of the hiss and muffle that blighted the recording so severely. The results have made quite a difference to the show, considering that the tape wasn't so great to begin with. A much easier listen...
